Coffee Bean Bag. Say it. Out Loud. Whats image does it conjure? If you’re like me your picturing one of those musty square bags that would get tossed across the gymnasium floor in elementary school.
Really its not a bad idea. A coffee bean bag.
Unfortunately that image is WAY off. Though it would be really great if someone would invent such a thing. That musty smell would no longer exist and we could get our children started on one of our societies greatest addictions earlier in life. Alas, a coffee bean bag would likely grow bacterial cultures or other such things over time. Or god bless it would get wet and that kid who was always eating the glue would have it in his mouth.
But I regress. The truth is that the coffee bean bag can only REALLY mean one of two thing. Maybe a third. But only to those not in their right mind. No, the coffee bean bag is either:
A)The burlap sacs that coffee is shipped in to our local retailers/suppliers/cafes
OR
B)A novel gift that is a must have for any coffee drinker.
The case of A) is an interesting one. You see these coffee bean bags do not actually contain the coffee. Well, they do for a time, but that time is short lived. The beans live in these bags from the farm to the roasters. Some retailers like to ship them along with orders. Most likely to get right of them. After roasting coffee is shipped in air tight vacuum packed opaque bags. This of course is to prevent staleness and lock in flavor. There are some coffee bean bag enthusiasts who hunt these sacks down. They love the aesthetic. Those rough sacks that are usually brimming with beans are a great find. If your on the hunt for one of these bags what should you do? The solution is simply and easy as 1 2 3.

Use coffee bean bags? At home?? Surely I jest. To be sure, I don’t. Coffee bean bags are being framed and used as art. Coffee bean bags are holding dirty laundry.
